Getting work done on my evo 7, Mechanic has looked and seen allot of these from relatively good people but wanted to ask has anyone had any experience with an Ebay Silicone radiator hose kit for an evo or any car and has had no issues??

I know some people are very edgey about Ebay but i've had allot of success with genuine products but wanted a bigger scale input?

I purchased that exact kit from that seller for my 9. A few points..
1. The quality is fine, don't know how much better the Samco hoses are but these ones are fine.
2. The seller is in Hong Kong not Australia. They take your order, send the items from Hong Kong to Botany, Sydney and then use Aussie Post to send it on to you. I'm not sure how other countries will work out but that's how it goes for Australian buyers. I know this from point 3.
3. I ordered a black set but a white set were sent, these took 10 days to turn up. I contacted the seller and organise a DHL shipment of the black set, which took 8 days to show up, direct from HK.
4. I have no idea what all the hoses are for. Top and bottom radiator, the two long hoses from the heater in the firewall and two from the throttle body. That's 6 of the 10 supplied. One of the two for the throttle body was the wrong shape and could not be used but I eliminated the throttle body from the cooling system and just looped one of the hoses from the cooling pipe on the back of the block. So I ended up only using 5 of the 10 hoses supplied.

That's it.

 

Sorry, my mistake, I actually used 7 of the 10 hoses. That's the 5 mentioned earlier and 2 that are used to connect the turbo to the coolant system.

Yeah key point for me was the quality so if its all around good (Not too fussed where it comes from) then i'm pretty keen, getting blue to give the bay a bit more character to look at haha

Just getting a rebuild done and could either go the genuine evo set new or go for this silicone set and have a bit more cosmetics in the car, pretty much if the quality is atleast there i'm happy, it says 4ply silicone are you able to confirm that at all?

 

I'm not sure if they're all 4 ply but they're all thick enough. The quality is fine, the smaller hoses are as thick as you would want. I wasn't very happy with the service from the company, lying about where the hoses are coming from and sending the wrong colour (which delayed finishing off my engine install by about 2 weeks) but I don't have any issues with the quality of the product, bar one of the throttle body hoses being the wrong shape meaning it couldn't be used which, luckily enough, wasn't an issue for me because I deleted the coolant flow to the TB anyway. I would be happy to recommend then but if you're expecting them to turn up in a few days you'll be disappointed, give yourself at least 3 weeks for delivery and contact the seller after purchasing and confirm that the blue ones you want will be sent.
