Internals Comparison

Greeting Guys,
I hope that you can help share some info on the different stroker/piston & conrod combos you guys have an also some advise on what to do with my car¡K I have a basic idea of how these things work but I still need help¡K ƒº I am planning for a upgrade on my evo derived 4G63 with a tm 6.5 turbine/RS titanium turbine. Which stroker/piston & conrod combo do you guys recommend to suit these criteria¡¦s?

1. Emphasizing on the most overall torque gain¡K I wanna be able to blast outta corners¡K ƒº (A very large displacement maybe?? 2.4??)

2. Faster spooling of mentioned turbine above (because of my auto gearbox) and better off boost response (higher compression??)

3. Reliability and drivability (because the car is daily driven)

I was thinking something along the lines of the crower(2.37 ltr) or toda(2.323ltr) strokers because of their high displacement. And higher displacements mean more engine power and torque at the cost of a lower effective rev range and more engine block honing doesn¡¦t it? I don¡¦t plan on installing monster turbines because of their laggy properties but I will try to max out the stock turbine¡K I was thinking also of high compression pistons 9:1 or higher with crower rods and the stock crank because this was cost effective and increases off boost response¡K tell me what to do guys¡K.

To be honest mate, from what you have said, I don’t know if a stroker is the way for you. Don’t get me wrong I love them. If you retain the stock turbo you will find that on a 2.3ltr+ unit that it will very quickly run out of steam (I mean around 5k I would think). A guy in the UK (moses) had a new engine that was a 2.3 and he had a HKS 3240 and that was loosing boost at the upper end (7.5k!!!). Even the Ralliart 2.3 conversion was producing 400lbs ft + but only making 340 bhp!!! The alternatives are running the stock turbo, on a 2.0ltr with a strong bottom end, at a very high boost (like 2bar +) and good compression. This will give you amazing low end power, but the blower still be pumping (admittedly not at 2 bar) at the top end. Either way, it would help if you could get a ball bearing conversion for the stock turbo. This will reduce the spool up by a few hundred rpm.

Thanks alot chuntington101... for the info on this thread and the last one... I think i will retain the 2.0 ltr bottom end and going for slightly higher compression... 9:1 maybe? At the moment, the pistons have a 8.5:1 cr and i am boosting at 1 bar... so maybe after the crower/je/stock crank combo ill have a reliable daily driving 300whp...

cheers man...
