Hi all,
I am considering my options on a turbo upgrade, and i believe the white will meet the goals, but it seems like a green is going to be a little better. I would like to run high 11s in the quarter on 93 octane in full street trim. car is a full weight 03 with 06 mivec motor, 6 speed, full bolt ons and currently a good stock evo 9 turbo. I have been 12.7@107 with the current setup.
so here is the real dilemma. if i buy a white chra I have a good stock 9 chra for sale, and reuse everything else. is there a market for the stock chra? what do they sell for?
if i go with a green, i have a complete 9 turbo with downpipe/02 housing to sell. whats that worth? its all 3" aftermarket stainless stuff, not stock. Im pretty handy with a tig, so the extra cost of the new downpipe configuration is parts and materials only, i fab stuff as a hobby so the time cost is NOT a consideration, if anything it is a positive.
If your reaching high 12s on 9turbo with supporting mods something is wrong.
my evo 8 stock turbo with a few bolt on mods did a 12.6.
seen high 11s with evo 9 turbo with supporting mods.
For a quick spool and response stick with white.
Green will Give you more power and mivec will help spool the green up.
If your reaching high 12s on 9turbo with supporting mods something is wrong.
one time at the track exactly how i drive it to work every day, with a safe tune, radio, cold ac, full interior and a backpack full of swim gear. i never claimed its anything impressive, im sure a couple tin cans have gone 10s or 11s on stock turbos, i am not interested in that. i want easy 11s. i dont want to need some ***** out tune with a perfect launch.
thanks

If I had to do it all over again, I would go with the new BB FP Green and call it done. Then when the motor gave up on its life I would go a long rod 2.4.
I just posted this in another 71HTA post.. I recently installed the FP 71HTA with 84mm cover. I came from the Evo 8 with 10.5 housing with a best of 12.6@110mph with a 1.8x. The 71HTA turbo feels great, waiting for my 3port to be installed since boost isnt holding in upper rpms in 1st-3rd gear with stock BCS.
I took it to ATCO last week, did 12.7@112mph traps with a 2.0 60', I wasn't trying to launch it as my clutch is still stock. I gained 26mph from the 1/8th to the end on the 71HTA, where as my stock 8 turbo I gained 23mph. Hoping once boost holds up high i will get another 2-3 mph out of my traps at 25psi.
Below is a virtualdyno run I did in 3rd gear pull on the 71HTA turbo.
good info, thanks.
i think im going to wait and see if something good comes up for black friday and try to get a green. It sounds like the white is not quite enough for my goals.
