TME turbo?

A buddy of mine has a turbo for his evo 9 and he swears it's a special edition TME turbo off of the evo 6.5 RS. I ended up looking up the part number and confirmed it is in fact a TME turbo. Now my biggest question is, is it worth it to buy this thing off of him and how much should I expect to spend on it?

Td05hra-15gk2-10.5t is the part number if that helps.

You can find the brand distributors, and take photos to show him, check if they have that part.

The TME turbo is an expensive turbo because of the inconel turbine wheel and shaft (which really only matters if you are running anti-lag). http://www.forcedperformance.net/mer...e=Lancer-Turbo

For that kind of money, there are a lot of (better?) turbo options.

Can he realistically get that much money for it? I mean he's saying upwards of $2k but for a "stock" turbo?

god that's a lot of money.. even 2k is. honestly. I personally would buy a 10.5 housing, and get a 71hta compressor/wheel. would cost you about a grand in total and you would have a kickass turbo that spools like the 9 turbo and will net your 450 whp easy.

Price has gone up due to rarity now I am guessing....those used to be about $2k back in the day.

I wouldn't pay more than $8-900 for a used TME turbo (which is basically double what used 9 turbos go for). As others have said, 71HTA is hard to beat for the $$$.
