Intake and exhaust cam position sensor the same part?

Is the intake and exhaust cam position sensor the same exact part. Some sites list different prices for the different sides of the engine, like STM, but others just list the same part number.

I am trying to troubleshoot some misfiring that is new to my setup, and a recommendation was that possibly my intake cam sensor has finally gone, and needs replacing. I bought one at the dealer but it doesn't distinguish if its intake or exhaust on the package.

Any experience with these sensors.

Thanks

I know you cannot use an exhaust cam sensor on the intake cam on the 9.

OK, so it is very likely that they are different parts and actually function differently. I am curious as to what is different inside of them mechanically, if anyone knows.

I will return that sensor. However, if its true that my intake cam sensor is going or gone out, then is it logical that I need to also replace the exhaust cam sensor, or does the intake wear out of fail sooner than the exhaust?

Another way of asking that, do I need to replace them in pairs because they have some kind of relationship between each other to the breathing timing of the engine.

The exhaust position sensor wears faster because its closer to a heat source.

They both do the same thing, but I am not sure of the actual differences besides the part numbers would would suggest something is different.

I would replace both if one is failing for piece of mind, but it is not 100% necessary.
