Testing coolant temp sensor

Trying to diagnose if I have a faulty coolant temp sensor.

If I log it in evoscan and the numbers seem normal during warmup, can I assume the sensor is good?

What would the sensor log look like if it was no good?

well there are two sensors, one works the gauge the other is what the ecu reads. In your logs if the temp seems to be lower/close to ambient when you start the car and then they gradually rise and then cap off when the radiator fan turns on, then its probably working ok.

Right. I was just wondering if an evoscan log would show anything that would be wrong with it.

Mine increases gradually during warmup and caps off so I think I can rule it out.

Thx for your input.

dunno if you actually read the thread, but he didn't end up having a problem. What kind of issues is your car having? Yah these are cheap high performance cars that people think they can afford until it comes time to maintain them and they realize its not like maintaining a regular lancer.
