New Set Up

Okay so here it goes. I just got my Evo 8 out of the shop this is what it had done to it...
Manley Rods
Manley Crank
Wiseco pistons
APR head studs
APR base studs
All the oil pans and pumps and nonsense
Perrin BOV
Evo 9 Turbo with upgraded thrust bearings
Full Megan Racing Exaust (I know piece of crap)
Downpipe
FP racing Manifold
Kelford 272 Cams
O2 Housing Dump out the bottom
All new gaskets

I also have precision 1000cc injectors and a Walbro 255 and am thinking of converting to E85. My question for you guys is how much boost can I have before I start breaking stuff. I was thinking of getting a Holset HX40 journal bearing turbo and bring it up to 30-35 psi I have read a lot about these turbos and for the price it is amazing some people say it is better and more reliable than the garret gt35r which it is comparable to. I want around 450-500whp but don't want to start blowing transfer cases and transmissions and stuff. I need to know what else I need to acheave this goal. Thank you for your input!!

i think 450 torque is the safety limit

A great clutch is what keeps the trans alive as far as handling whatever you throw at it. What people comment regarding a limit or threshold regarding the trans is to be expected literally... when you are running 450+ tq on your trans over time things wear and wear faster than moderate power levels.. but again this is where a great clutch keeps the trans alive. as far as the transfer case if you have an open diff like my 03 Evo had, this does not apply regarding what in mentioned above regarding the trans.. this is the weak point in the transfer case so I'd definitely recommend replacing it with the evo rs LSD and these have been proven on record breaking evos high hp,tq applications (search). once that is replaced you're pretty solid. the stock open diff can break under a launch and further damage your ring and pinion causing you to rebuild your t-case... as far as your motor Im not sure on what specific connecting rods you have but if they're not I beam many dont go past 400-450 ft-lbs on H-beams which is pretty damn good amount of tq. I have a T3 HX40 with upgraded billet compressor(67mm) and turbine wheel on a fully built 2.4lr Evo 8.. I haven't gotten a tune yet but you will be able to see updates very soon. for your power goals It will work great but it can be very laggy on certain build applications not reaching full spool by 5k rpm roughly... and for your type of power goal its not realistically a great choice for your power band unless you're doing it for the sake of pricing as you mentioned... I would suggest sending in your 9 turbo to get upgraded compressor/turbine wheel and run e-85... enjoying your build until you are able to buy a t3 setup or fp black etc.
