Can a boost leak cause loss of power?
So my question is can a boost leak cause a lack of power, without showing a lack of boost? I ask this because a focus st with only a tune making around 260 wheel can keep up with me no sweat or even beat me. While my evos boost gauge is reading 24psi. So is my evo at a loss of power from a boost leak or something? Because I feel my car at 24psi should be able to smoke a 260hp focus. Any help? Thanks
24 psi maybe just a boost spike, not represent your car hp. Many factors here: your car currently doesn't like 24 psi because maybe some supporting mods are not there any more (I said that because you sounded like a new owner of a used evo). Get it tuned or check out. Also can be the driver too.
But yeah, if your car is running properly at 24 psi that ST should not able to hang or beat you. The key here is running properly. Get it tuned.
Boost leak can cause loss of power big time. It happened to me.

Yeah I got it off a salvage auction, and Ive tried contacting the person who had crashed it to get some insight on what he had done to the car. When I first drove the car i noticed it was running 29psi and i turned it down. So do you think that its possible the car is tuned for 30psi? Im gonna take it to an evo tuning shop in the spring. When I got the car Im assuming there was an access port on it because there was a usb cable coming from. Any other Ideas for mods that the previous owner took from the car before the insurance company took it? Also believe it has an evo 9 turbo in it. Also ive drove it for about 10k and have had zero issues.
Sorry for asking so many questions but, rather new to the evo scene(owned an oz rally before my evo lol) and want to know my car inside and out., and want to know why my car isnt making the power it should be. Thanks
