ECU+ web site now up

Some of y'all have expressed an interest in the new engine management product (the ECU+) that Dan of Mach V posted about a week or so ago. Welp, I've finally got the web site up for it, so please take a look if you're looking for an inexpensive piggyback system for the EVO8's and the DSMs:

If you have any questions, e-mail me.

It'd be great if we could have a forum for this new piggyback. I'm very interested in it myself and I'm looking to purchase one in the future

I second that, maybe as part of the Mach V corner?

Wow that's really interesting... I'm sure you'll get a ton of emails. My main questions are:
How does it compare to the other piggyback units?
How was it developed? Meaning, was this a "grassroots" kind of thing like the DSMLink?
Does it have the capability to add other inputs? WBO2 for instance -- would be nice for logging.

Sounds like a good idea. Perhaps the powers-that-be on EvoM are listening and could help out with this.

My goal was to make an inexpensive device that was sort-of a non-brainer buy for folks considering the Super AFC, but over time I've added enough 'stuff to it so that it's somewhere between most piggybacks and full-up standalones, feature-wise. And the software's become kind-of cool, IMO.

Ayep.

Yes. There are three 5 volt inputs that you can use for whatever you want. WBO2 seems to be a popular idea. Basically, if the WBO2 is a simple 5 volt signal, it should work and be datalogged along with the other signals.

Thanks for the reply. It sounds like a very nice product and I'm really glad to see something like this for the Evo. Keep up the good work!

We've worked with Tom quite a bit in the late-stage debugging and final product tweaks. I have to say, I'm REALLY impressed by his technical abilities and by the product he has built. There's nothing even close at this price level.

We'll be doing some more tuning of our shop Evo -- both road and dyno testing -- using the ECU+ in the next couple of weeks, and will share the results. Watch for them...

Just a little update...I was tweaking on our Evo with a Palm T2 today. This thing is so small I'm considering sticking it permanently to the dash with double-sided tape.

Graphing...I know, I know, I have two identical throttle position sensor (TPS) graphs. I was in the process of changing them around. You can select whatever input or output you want...

you said at "this" price point.... what price point is that?

how does it compare to something on the low end like the AFC or Greddy Emanage towards things like a Utec or EMS

Please click the link for a bunch more info, including price.

ECU+ page - click me!

The short answer about the comparison is that it's sort of like a beefed-up Super AFC with the additional capability to modify timing, plus it's a very sophisticated data logging package. And it comes with both PC and Palm software.

It's priced a bit above the S-AFC, but below everything else mentioned.

So I could do all of my tuning from a palm pilot?

If I get one, I'd rather avoid lugging around the laptop to tune. I'd like to get a quality wideband O2 and mount the palm pilot somewhere.

Anyway, it's looking very promising.

One question, does it provide base maps for tuning like the exede or aem? Just wondering if it provides a good place to start.

No, but we'll be posting settings on our web site as we and our customers get some more experience tuning with the ECU+.
