Help!!! Car resisting to drive?

May be a noob question but here is it. So I took my car up to the mountains to go snowboarding, car was running perfectly fine on the way up and on the way back down but the next day when I started it up and tried to drive away it didnt want to in any gear. The car tries to move but something is keeping it from moving. It's almost as if the ebrake was stuck or the brakes were binding buuuuttttt.... I got it towed and jacked up the car and I could spin all 4 wheels with my hands with no effort at all. Taking out the possibility of brake binding. But once the car was back on the ground the binding started happening again. So this leads me to something in the drivetrain? Is there anyone that can help?
Ive searched tirelessly and haven't found anything.
Thanks.

Oh I drive an 05 Evo 8 if this helps
Thanks again

I'd check fluids. It sounds like maybe a gear box run dry.

Hmmm I don't think it could be the clutch cause it still grabs pretty well and I haven't noticed any slippage while driving. And I do run the car hard at times with no problems with the clutch.

Oh forgot to add on even with the car in neutral, pointing downhill, and e brake down, the car will hold itself up on the hill without rolling.

This could be a very serious problem. I would drain the transfer case, rear diff, and trans to get a better look at what you're dealing with here. Does the car shift gears normally? If so, then I would lean towards transfer case ring and pinion being munched. It takes a lot of drag to hold back on evo in neutral on a hill.

yes the car can shift through all the gears perfectly fine with no grinding. And the hill is a pretty steep one too. Yeah I was thinking t case but wasn't too sure. Thanks! I'll look into it more when I get back home.

ya what pal said my money is on the tcase. This happened to me years back after I regrettably let a family member test drive the evo. I got it back and half way home the car just became harder and harder to drive like it was fighting with something until it couldn't even roll. Towed it home and drained the diff oils, determined the tcase was blown. Took it apart to find gears all chewed up and destroyed. Also, when car was off the ground I was also able to spin the wheels freely. youl have to drain the oil to check for metal shards/ color to confirm it's a diff issue.

Thanks for the info! Looks like to be the t case. When I drained it there were fine shards of metal in it. So crap bye bye t case. :-(
Anyways thanks for all the help guys!!! Time to rebuild my t case! But will still check the rest of the fluids just to be sure.
