Evo 8 or Evo 9

I have a 05 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo Mr. It has a 6 speed tranny thats bad. How can I tell if it is an Evo 8 or Evo 9? Just bought the car and don't know anything about evo's. Thanks

2003-2005 = Evo 8
2006 = Evo 9

Evo 8 start 2003- to March 2005. They came with 6MT MR too.

Evo 9 Starts April 2005.

You can call dealership with your VIN # and they can tell you what you have.
