Another coil upgrade. Bad misfire at wot.

Had some rsx coils in my evo 8 earlier and it ran great. Took those back because they were to tall. Now I have some out of a Honda v6 and it still runs great. Just a bad miss at hard wot. So I’m guessing these v6 coils can’t keep up. They fit pretty good though. Still a work in progress so don’t mind the mess.

are the springs in the coils clean?
any arching between the spring and the plug?
If so, you will be able to see it on the spring and on top of the plug.
if so.. this can be the problem.

I don’t think that’s the case. But I will definitely check into that tomorrow. Got dark quick today it seemed like. Thinking about going back to get the rsx coils again. I was just wondering if I should sacrifice one to try and shorten it. Not really sure what to do besides put my old setup back in and order some civic or s2000 coils.

Just did and they are fine. Took those coils back and got the taller rsx ones and everything is good again. They are just a lot taller then I’d like. But honestly can’t tell a difference in the way the car runs.

What is your plug gap? Looks like you are on stockish turbo? Many of us have used even stock ignition at 600+whp. I would venture that you have another issue.

like I said took the others back and uses the other ones and everything is ok now. But it’s about 24. They are iridium plugs.
