Mustang Mach 1 owner talkin sh*t
What's up everyone I needed some moral support. I live and work in a place where no one has a clue about any fast car unless it's ford or chevy. I drive an 03 tarmac evo and people actually make fun of it as if it's not a cool car, whatever they are clueless. Anyway a friend of mine at work just got a new mach 1 mustang. Now this is a very cool car I like it. I drove it and was not at all impressed it is rated at 305 hp but it felt slower than my evo by far, and I got on it. Well now we are going to drag in a couple of weeks and everyone at work is laughing and saying how "that mustang will walk on your mitsubishi," I disagree. I have a 3 inch down pipe, 3 inch cat back, k&n drop in filter and have been dynoflashed. I have never drag raced my car and I plan to roll into the launch instead of just dropping the clutch which is not good for your car with awd. I think even with the little bit of time lost due to the conservitive launch I will still win. Does anyone agree or am I crazy and should I be scared of this stock mach 1?
If you are short on cash but can get a few hundred together...get rid of the stock cat...replace it with a cat delete, upgrade your bov to a recirc one so it can hold boost to redline and crank it up, get a reflash...you should be on your way to 300whp...and smoking his ****
Scared? No Those cars are not slow by any means but your car even with a conservative launch should be much faster to the 1/4 99/100 especially modded. Be ready for him to really push his car, especially if he knows the first thing about what hes going up against. As for your coworkers they simply don't know what they're missing and I wouldn't sweat any of it. All my friends are basically wannabe muscle car guys who simply don't appreciate the EVO for what it is in its entirety beyond what they care about, the 1/4 mile drag, which while being a strong point doesn't even tell half of the story about this car.
well here is the thing.... naturally aspired engines have smoother powerband... the 'rush' isnt there making your car feel slower.... the 350z is marginally faster then the older 300zx TT but it feels slower but because there is no surge...
but anywayz to loose against the mach 1, shift way too early or you bog down majorly (which wont happen if you launch very conservatively; even if you are loosing time)

Why don't you throw in a MBC for added confidence. With your mods, you should take him. He probably will spin the tires on launch like a newbie and lose traction while you're on your way. Let your co-workers know AWD ownz.
Also the Evo is not a drag car even though it does it well. You will mop up that Mustang on the road course where the Evo shines. Race him from a slow roll to save your clutch.

first i hate those guys allready, i like all kinds of cars - but I HATE BS talk, they dont even know whats evo its a legendary rally car.
well, learn how play with the clutch dont hold it to much or you will burn he clutch drop the car from around 4000 4500 rpms rev rev rev then release the clutch dont hold it just let it go but not too fast by the time your evo will grab the asphalt you will jump 2 cars ahead...dont lissen to those guys -there will be always a **** talk about our cars and huge spoilers... good luck and may the force be with you

hopefully he doesnt do up the mach 1 as well =)
I used to have an old mopar chrysler newport weighing around 4500lbs with a done up 440CI engine under the hood which put out about 500HP to the positran.. ended up getting about 10seconds on the quarter mile with no supercharger

so a 4500 lb car with 500 hp doing 10 second passes? hmmm just doesnt sound right.... a saleen s7 puts out 550bhp and 525 lb torque and it does quarter mile in mid 11's.... oh the s7 weighs 2850 lbs... oh maybe you forgot to tell us you superglued a rocket engine too
The race at the drag strip will do all the talking. And that's all you'll ever need. Good to hear that you are settling this on the right playing field rather than on the streets. And even if you win, they might still talk. That's when you know you're dealing with a different class of people.
