works 269? like between 264 and 272 HKS's?

Piper 265 cams are SOOO expesive right? ...and no way to idle them well ( not looking for stock exactly) but nothing obnoxiuos... are these cams just for non street cars?

Pipers are not that bad for idle I don’t think. Many people over here have them and they don’t complain that much (not about the cams anyway). Having looked on a UK site though, I have found that you are best going with the 11.5mm lift ones for the road. A little less aggressive but still very good. How much are Pipers over there compared to the HKS’s and stuff?

When going with a higher lift or more aggressively lobed cam than HKS offers, you will probably need to replace your valve springs and retainers. While I can't see doing any cams without the appropriate engine management first, bigger cams would be benefit more from that, too.

HKS cams are somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 the cost of Piper, JUNs, or Tomei + springs + retainers.

The fact that everyone apart from HKS recommends springs and retainers is more evidence that the HKS units are not that great a cam as some make out. I think on the EVO 7 the stock retainers where lighter than the Ti ones supplied with JUN cams!!!!! I mean, if you are putting in a different cam then the spring rate will need to be different to get the most from the cam. It’s like using springs for a road car to go rallying with! It will work, but not as good as a stiff/softer rate spring would. And the retainers are even more important as they hold the whole lot together.
On the ECU, you could say that you should start with a good standalone before you start to mod as this will let you optimise the running of the engine for each mod that you do thereafter. But some don’t bother. I mean I am all for them, but you can get away without. As with all mods though, the engine will NOT be running at its optimum. How many people are running up rated turbos on stock ECUs?

Personally I'm pro for the JUN cams; but I have a set on order. I know that Al did some testing and found the JUN 264s to be the best set-up for what he wanted. I also know that someone else here is using a set of the Piper cams and also really likes them.

I when with the JUN 264s because I wanted a cam that was more aggressive, but had a generally shorter overlap and would work well below 7500 PRMs. I also steered away from anything with a really high lift because I wasn't sure how strong our valve seats and lifters are, and what the long term effects of running very high lift cam would be.

Per the HKS folks, the cams are on backorder due to a materials shortage. This is not just a US shortage. It affects their domestic market as well. They are hoping to have this resolved very soon.

imho you should go with JUN264 Al tested them and that's the one he uses in his 550whp evo, they are more agressive than the hks 272 so they require springs
