Tomei springs/retainers

Hi there,

I'm going to buy a set of Tomei valve springs.

On their website I read this:
"Stock EVO7 or TOMEI Titanium Retainers are required when using TOMEI Valve Springs on the EVO 8/9 models."

So my question: are Evo 7 retainers different from Evo 8 ones?
Does someone of you use these springs?

Then, do Tomei titanium retainers really worth 500 bucks? or can I go with stock ones?

Thanks for your help
Davide

Honestly, there are so many other options that I wouldn't even bother. Just go with a setup that'll match your needs, dependent on your cams.

Thanks for your reply, I will put Tomei 270, so I only would like to know if I can use my retainers or not.

If you stay under 8000 rpm, stock beehive & retainers "should" be fine. If you are revving higher, consider springs & retainer upgrades. Don't install stiffer springs on stock retainers because someone poated how the stock retainers can't told the stiffer springs and start to groove.

I used to run the Tomei 280 PRO cam and believe they required the upgraded valvetrain due to the 11.5 lift. Are you running to Pro or Pon cams?

with a 2.4 I think I won’t go over 7.500, btw I just ordered a full set of Tomei springs and retainers. Thanks for the advice

i just make and order and I put in Tomei springs and Tomei ti retainers.
i think I will go straight to PROcam cause I have all new components in my head (springs, ret, valves, gears, etc) and I think I’m going 11.5 mm.
