Best stock frame turbo choice for my setup!!
Hello guys.I am evo 9 owner and i am searching for a stock frame turbo, My build so far is stock internals and i dont plan to change internals. i got
FMIC ETS
STM intercooler pipe kit
HKS air intake
Fuel pump aeromotive 340
1200 FCInjectors
GSC s2 cams
gsc valve train and retainters
Full tomei /hks exhaust system
ECutek ECU flash
I am not a drag person. I like time attack circuit rallye sprint etc. What is the best turbo choice for my setup. I plan to change exhaust manifold too. Ball bearing or journal bearing will be better than me? FP green/ hks 7460r / fp black ? TD06-20g? I dont plan build my engine so i dont want to get a big turbo.
Every advice are welcome

FP Green is a great road race turbo. I prefer the HTA71 but the Green is better in regards to back pressure and heat. If you are primarily concerned with track day performance, the Green. For Rally, stock 9 turbo. I'm not sure what Sprint racing is.
That being said my lap times with the stock 9 turbo aren't that far off of my Green times (I've been getting better as a driver and improving the car in other ways). Stick with cast manifolds, they don't crack. Also stick with journal bearing as the difference in transient response and spool is minimal and the cost of rebuilds is far cheaper. Most turbos last a long, long time no matter what type of bearing they run. Journal bearing turbos also don't have any problem with smoking, leaking, etc seeing how they are basically really similar to stock, anyway.

The HTA 71 is a great bang for your buck turbo. Now At the point you are stepping into a green,I would do yourself a favor and go with the red. The stock engine is going to be limited with stock rods and either turbo will easily exceed 400ft lbs by 3800-4200. The MHI red spools up within 100-200rpm of the green but carries the power much farther then the green. A JB red/green is only a few hundred more then the HTA. A broad power band is always a good thing.
Regardless of any turbo you get, if you are on a sticky tire you will need to address the oil issues when going around (1G+) corners. The Racefab pan has proven data and works well. A JB won't deal well with lack of oil pressure.
