3 days ago I noticed a whine coming from my car. I drove it to a buddies house, did an oil change, and on the way home I noticed a whine that hasn't been there before.

The whine is only there when on the gas but goes away when I'm off it..I'm guessing T-case but not sure. I'd figure i'd get some input.

Car has been sitting since as I don't want to drive it.

 

T-case or rear diff.

You'll know for sure if it gets stupid loud all the time lol.

Change the fluids and check for metal shavings.

 

Is it happening at certain speeds or certain RPMs/gears?

 

Really only 4th and 5th to be honest. Maybe a little of third if the rpm's are high-ish. Definitly louder highway speeds though.

 

I have the same noise except it's not as loud. Mine sounds like it's coming from the rear, so I'll try changing rear diff fluid to see if it goes away. Mine only whines lightly between 60-80mph. Quiet everywhere else.

Mine sounds the same and is only around 60ish mph and 75ish. It's gotta be the rear diff, but I'll drain the fluid and see what comes out. I have rear diff bushings, which is probably a good part of the reasoning why I have as much whine as I do!
