OEM Cam Phasing

Has anyone ever noted errors in the factory specified timing events when degreeing OEM evo cams? I am degreeing my E9 exhaust cam and with the cam gear zeroed it’s giving me a different reading to the service manual advertised spec. I have tried measuring at 1mm lift and also absolute. Seems like Mitsubishi use absolute values for what it’s worth. Also using solid lifters for measurement purposes set at zero lash.

Service Manual:
Open 58deg BBDC
Close 18deg ATDC

Measured:
Open 48deg BBDC
Close 18deg ATDC

It reads as though the ex cam is 10deg shorter duration than advertised by Mitsubishi in my case. Am I missing something or has anyone else noticed this with the factory cams??

Cheers,
Trev

If it is that far out you have not got a stock cam, or the face is seriously worn. Check lobe height which should be 34.99 (Limit) - 35.45 mm (New) for an indication of the amount that it may be worn.
