Fan control unit

Hey guys, the Texas heat just started to get bad and I just found out my evo doesn’t blow cold. I know it could probably just need Freon but I was inspecting the engine bay and noticed the fan controller was unplugged. Is there a reason evo owners would leave this part unplugged? I know some got recalled but I’m not sure if my year (03) was affected. Just trying to get some other opinions.

that controller looks plugged in, that connector hanging there looks like its for the intercooler sprayer. The AC fan doesn't wire into that controller either, that controller only powers the radiator fan.

Sorry I should have specified, I know that plug is to something else but on the other side of the fan control it’s unplugged I just couldn’t get a good angle with my phone.

the controller has 2 outputs, only one is used. What you want to look at is the fan thats in front of the condenser and see that its plugged in to the harness. When you turn on the A/C that fan should kick on, as well as the A/C compressor.

Okay yeah, the bottom outputs are plugged in. It’s just the one on the left that is unplugged. When I turn the ac on the fan kicks on but I don’t think the the clutch kicks on. It just makes the hissing noise constantly similar whenever you first turn the AC on.

Next thing to do is check the refrigerant pressure, if its not correct the ECU will not turn on the compressor.
