Talking Would an evo 8 engine be compatible with an evo 9?

Hi guys! The 2006 Mitsu Evo MR has been my dream car since I laid eyes on it and I finally got my hands on one. Im not a mechanic but Ive done some auto schooling and was wondering if I can get some help. I bought this car from an auction with no audio :l . yeah, bad idea but I couldn't help it. lol Turns out the previous owner BLEW OUT the engine and now I cant find a Reman 4g63t Mivec engine but I found a 4g63t from a 2005 Evo MR. Does anyone know if they would be compatible? and If not, what would need to be changed in order to get this working out.
Thanks in advance!

Welcome and congrats on the evo. I'm sorry it had to start out this way though. You would need to replace the engine harness and ECU to make that swap work. If you post more details about your engine failure people may be able to give you better advice. Depending on the level of damage there might be better, cheaper paths to go down.

Thank you! The people stripped the vehicle before leaving it behind so theres no ECU anyway. Building it from the ground up here. If an ECU, engine harness and engine is mainly what I need, I can figure it out. Lets hope this goes as planned Was adviced to sell it because its alot of work but I really dont want too

Yes, for sure Welcome & thanks for posting @peachyy

Is the head salvageable? The diff is the MIVEC head on the 9 vs the 8. If the MIVEC head is OK
a new short block can be used w/the orig MIVEC head if im not mistaken
