In tank fuel filter?

Can anyone explain this to me?

https://stmtuned.com/products/in-tan...-oem-evo-7-8-9

I thought the filter was integrated into fuel hanger? I was looking to change the fuel hanger because of a lean issue. Making sure it’s not the filter that’s clogged up. Now I see this and am confused.

I don't remember seeing this attached to my fuel hanger, only the sock.

I’ve replaced the pump a bunch of times and this is not there. Could it maybe be on the other side of the tank or something? I know when you pull the back seat there are 2 covers.

Yup, that filter is used on the other (suction) side of the fuel tank.

Yep that is on the opposite side of the tank on the passenger side.

Aaah interesting. So is there a possibility this filter can get clogged too? It looks fairly easy to change. Anyone have any experience replacing it?

if you clog that filter then you have much larger issues than that you can fix with a filter change...

Take a clue from what you find when servicing the electric pump.

Yeah I’m guessing by that you mean if the pump filter or sock is really bad then it must mean the others are too? I was thinking of purchasing the top part of the canister that has the internal filter as well. What’s happening is sometimes when going into boost and wot it’s leaner than usual. Other times it’ll act normal. The pump is a wall to 255 maybe year and a half old or so. Also I haven’t done a pump rewire. I noticed this happens in the summer when it’s really hot. Maybe stock wires can’t keep up?

stock wires are usually ok with a 255... If the fueling is ok on full power - high rpm, I would say you are ok.... also, sometimes people mess up the o ring on the top of the pump and get fuel pressure issues.. but this doesnt sound like it..

Yeah it’s weird. I tuned it for 11.3 wot. When the summer hit it’ll randomly go lean. It’ll go about a point leaner than usual. I haven’t stayed in it. I let off when I see it by like 4500 - 5k. Sometimes it’ll be normal. So something is up. I checked the oring couple months ago and it seemed fine.
