Post JDM '03 Evo 8 Diff Setup

Hi

One of my friend's have a JDM '03 Evo 8. Does anyone know what sort of setup came from the factory for the Differentials in the Front, Center and Rear. The car has the ACD system also.

Thank you

The center will be the ACD differential, as you mentioned.
The rear will be the AYC setup that wasn't found on USDM Evo VIII/IX.
The front should have a LSD. Also note, the car should be a 6 speed.

Yes the car is a 6 speed.
I though that the Evo 8 GSR didn't have front LSD. Didn't it come only on the RS models?

Is there any way to see if there is a LSD with having to remove the diff?

chances are it has the LSD in it... most of them do. If you want to check, take out the gearbox side half shaft, pull out the intermediate shaft and take a look inside.. if you dont see the diff satelite gear carrier going across that hole, it has a LSD in it..

I know that the ACD pump is behind the left hand side rear wheel. Where is the AYC unit located??

the same pump runs ACD and AYC, just has more valves than the ACD only pump that is used in non AYC cars.

What would the easiest way to identify whether the car has AYC or not by taking a look??

ayc rear diff has 2 hydraulic lines going into it from the back and has 2 drain plugs on the bottom... plus it has aluminium housing and not cast iron..
