Evo 8 boosting issue

HI all new to the forum
First of all I drive a 2004 fq300
It's had quite a few mods and running around 500bhp
Spec is as follows
Fully built
2.2 motor
272 cams
Rc 1200cc injectors
Walbro 450lph
Tt s214b turbo
Racetech mani etc
All this mapped on a standard ecu (Currently looking into management)
Recently it has developed a problem it boosts iraticly 1 minute it boost .7 the next 1 bar then the next 1.8 bar !!!
So straight away checked the actuator it seemed a bit weak so I replaced it with a new 1 giving it the standard half a hole of preload still the car does the same thing so I am thinking it's possibly the 3 port mac boost salinoid ??
Does Any have any idea as to what it could be maybe some sort of electrical fault even ?

Hello and welcome. Im not the best when it comes to engine diagnostic but have you considered:
  1. Boost leak test?
  2. Have you run an ECU log where we could look at the results?

Cheers, Joe

Thanx for the reply
I did check for boost leaks and all seems good in that area
I haven't logged the car yet
I'll maybe give that a go
Drove the car this morning and it now won't boost over
14 psi
I'm starting to think it could be the mac 3 port salinoid !!!!!

I would check the wiring and hoses to your 3 port. While you are at it, do a boost leak test. And I would change the throttle body seals if you haven't done it in last 30k miles (50km).

Boost leaks I am pretty sure there's none at all
Throttle body seals ?
Do they give trouble ?
I just replaced the silicone pipe work going to the salinoid also
Do the mac salinoids ever give trouble ??
