4.11 on built 2.0 (700whp+)?
4.11 on built 2.0 (700whp+)?
Anyone have any experience with a 4.11 on a 2.0? I have the oportuity to trade a stock 4.59 8 trans for a 4.11 8 trans, but I'm on the fence since I have a 2.0 and not a stroker. I can't seem to find advice from anyone running a 2.0 and 4.11 at this power level.
This is just my opinion and I tend to gravitate towards a fun street car rather then drag car.
I've run a small turbo (MHI Red) on a 2.0/2.2 with a 4.11 and a 4.31 from 500-600whp or so. For the flat lands of Florida and with a small turbo the 4.11 worked ok on the 2.0. With the 2.2 I prefer the 4.11 over the 4.31. Its important to note that I've got a small/fast spooling turbocharger .
The taller gearing calms down the wheelspin and with a big powerband the car moves well on the street. At the drag strip the car slows down a bit with the 4.11 compared to the 4.59 at lower power levels.
Now if you've got a gen1 35R or smaller I think the 4.11/2.0 combo would still be fun around town. If you've got something bigger then it may feel a bit slower until the turbo comes on. You may also want to think about the hills in your area and having to slip the clutch a bit more with the 4.11.
What turbo and clutch are you running.

If you drag race not recommended but if you are into highway pulls and roll racing I would recommend it. You won't spin as much as the initial hit isn't as hard but its deceptively fast since you won't have to shift as fast and the car will just be building boost for longer. I run a 4.08 on stock block but my buddy with 800HP runs a 4.0. 4th gear is just ridiculous as its so tall with that kind of power and don't need to shift in .2 secs.
My buddy with the 4.0fd is running exedy triple with a garret 3584rs. I'm running the 3582gen1.

Also on side not theres a shop called Abacus near me that builds X motors, is it just a coincidence or are you the shop owner?

I'll be running a gen 1 6266 dbb, so it should be pretty much identical to a gen 1 35r. I'm trying to see if i can get a gen 2 6266 or 6466 however. I'll be running an exedy twin or tripple, I depends on how badly beat up my exedy twin is now, and if its an HD or SD. The turbine housing of the 6266 is a t3 82, so it'll be slug compared ot an mhi or a twin t4/t3.

The 4.11 will be nice for roll racing.
