Has anyone tried the fairly new Revel Tanabe Medallion catback exhaust yet? Just wondering how quiet it is and how it fits.
Thanks,
Rich

I've been on it for the past 2 years and like it very much. Great fit and high quality workmanship. Higher frequency harmonics are well damped, with lower bass tones taking precedence throughout the rev range. This makes it easier to live with when compared to Ti or Al pipes. Max dBa response is at 2000 RPM and is enough to set off car alarms cruising around enclosed parking structures in third gear. At cruising speed (3500 RPM) there is no drone and you can have a conversation without shouting. High end is free flowing and not to rorty, assuming you have a decat. I'm in Kalifornia and it's stealthiness has never resulted in attracting LEO attention.

I didn't think Revel had been around that long. You have the Revel Tanabe and not the original Tanabe Medalion?Originally Posted by cdrinkh2o

I have been running a used Tanabe Medalion since October and love it. Great tone, not too loud, doesn't drone, fitment is easy and perfect, looks pretty stealthy. Also works with the JDM rear bumper with no mods.
I tried to order a Revel Tanabe Touring Medalion back in the summer and they were all sold out in the US. I called Revel Tanabe US to confirm and they said that they were not expecting their next shipment until Dec/Jan and that all the orders on that shipment they were all spoken for.
The Revel version is pictured on their website. It’s heavier, doesn’t have hollow hangars, has thicker wall pipe and thick flanges rather than the lightweight stamped ones. I’m not sure how they compare in sound. That’s really why I’m asking. The Revel system definitely has a weight penalty for it’s quietness.
i’ve been looking for a used original Tanabe in my area without much luck.

I have the original Tanabe Medalion cat-back and Tanabe downpipe. Probably 70K miles on it. I wrote a detailed review on it here. It's lighter than OE- i listed the weights in the review. It's louder than OE. I'm old, so it's plenty loud for me. It uses solid cast flanges at the cat and IIRC uses stamped flanges at the muffler.
