Engine rebuild
Engine rebuild
I am rebuilding a 2006 Evo. The crankshaft is damaged on number one journal. It was severely overheated, and I’m thinking of replacing the crank instead of trying to turn. It would also like to find some OEM quality Pistons and also need one rod. The car has a ETS oversize turbo. it has 35,000 miles and it had 14 K miles when I purchased. the turbo was already installed. Looks like the pan has been removed and resealed before I bought it. My dilemma is I don’t know if the rods and pistons are oem or not. Not planning on tracking the car anymore. Where would be a good source for new crank, rods and Pistons.
Hey man, sorry to hear that. Honestly, the best way to do it would be OEM Crank, BC H beam Rods and a set of Manley or Diamond Pistons. I can recommend CP pistons as well but since you are not planning on sending it hard, we can keep things simple and under a decent budget.
If you are working with 91 oct, I suggest 8.5 CR on the pistons and if you have 93 oct, then could go up to 9 CR, I love low CR so if this was my car, would keep it at 8.5 just to use the buffer. I've done quite a few of my builds with Jay @ RS Garage and he recently built his brothers (Tim) TRC Grey Evo 9. Feel free to give them a call.
