Oil changes

I'm about 60 miles from the nearest Mitsu service center. Is there any other place such as jiffy lube, walmart, etc that can be trusted to have the right filter/oil that might be a little closer?

I was thinking about picking up some filters/oil from the dealer and just having a local shop take care of it.

It's just a big hassle to drive 60 miles to the service center.

pick up 5qt jug of Mobil1 from walmart for 19$ and some change, and just get the right filter and take it somewhere to do it or do it yourself with a ditch or something.

You're not alone, I can't lift my EVO either .

Rhino ramps are only ~$20 Walmart too (not the $30 kazillion lbs rated one). I wouldn't trust any Jiffy lube minimum wage lube guy to do oil change on my EVO.

I guess I can take it over my uncles to do it there.

What oil / filter should I get and how much?

I bought the plastic Rhino Ramps for less than $20 and they work great. If you want to please your Mitsu dealership then put in Mobil 1 synthetic and the Mitsu filter. You can use any 10W-30 synthetic though really such as Royal Purple or Amsol. As for filter: The Mitsu part seems to be a good one but K&N and Fram do make filters that should be able to be picked up from your local parts store.

[edit] How much? I think it's like 5 quarts to fill. Check your user manual as it has the specifics in there. After 2 oil changes I have 2 quarts left out of 12 so I guess I put 5 in mine .

Plus: You will need to take a trip to your local dealership to pick up some of the crush washers that go on the oil drain plug because you really shouldn't be using them more than once.

Or, you can go buy a Fumoto Valve and make your next oil changes a breeze. http://www.fumotovalve.com/

If I didn't have an oil temp sensor probe in my drain plug I would go with that!

Keith

PS: Just sent off my oil sample to blackstone labs to be analysed after 5,000 miles of hard use. I will update the bord when I get my results back.

Don't trust anyone else to change your oil. I barely trust the dealership... When your underpanel is missing, and you realize the jiffy boys forgot to put it back on don't come crying.
