HKS 272 deg. camshaft adjustments ...

Is there anyone here who has a clue about the "right" camtiming for the HKS 272 camshafts ...

The "right" cam timing does not exists.

The first rule in tuning.

1) EVERY CAR IS DIFFERENT!

The setting used on one car will not produce the same effects on the other, even though they are modified exactly alike. No motor is exactly like the other.

You must strap the car on the dyno and adjust the cam timing one tooth at a time and make a pass. Change only one cam per tun. Changing both the intake and exhaust cam at the same time will confuse the results. You will not know what produced more power or robbed a few ponies.

What your saying is very true, but his question is kinda vague.

a) Does he mean initial cam timing? (cam degree set in relation to the crank)

b) Adjusting timing of the cam gears as you mentioned?

I just want to get a hint about what´s "right" ... HKS won´t say a word ... They just say that it´s a secret and that I have to experiment myself ...

You could try this setting (IN 106.5) (EX 109)

That's what the HKS Evo Vll that currently holds the Tsukuba circuit record of 56.84 sec. sets their cams at.

550ps @1.9kg/cm
GT3037S
HKS 272 cams IN EX
820cc inj
HKS F-CON V

But ultimately I think you'll have to experiment on a dyno to find what works best for your set-up. Good Luck

i dont know about europe and awd dynos, but here on the east coast of the US there are none. the only places where i heard they have AWD dynos is out in Texas and out further west. so doing dyno testing can be somewhat hard without the AWD dyno.

Claudius is right...HKS doesn't have a stroker kit in their car(yet) so your timing is going to be different if you have stroker in already...

If you have a stroked engine then you would want to retard the timing settings from that of the 2.0l. But ultimately it will come down to experimentation.
