Potential of the Evo VI's turbo?
Potential of the Evo VI's turbo?
Hey guys. Mopar is soon to release the Mopar Stage 3 Turbo Upgrade Kit for the SRT-4, which includes the TD05HR-15GK@-10cm2 Turbo that has a:
--16% larger compressor wheel diameter to flow and compress more intake air
--19% larger turbine wheel diameter to flow more exhaust gas and reduce back pressure
--67% more turbine scroll area for reduced back pressure
[All over stock turbo]
This turbo was found in the Evo VI, correct? If not, something similar?
I am considering this upgrade, but I don't know anything about this turbo or the potential of it. I heard that the Evo VI's with this turbo easily made over 400 whp, is this true? Where can I get more information about this turbo and the Evo VI's and how they achieved 400+ whp from this turbo?
Thanks for your time.
- Chris.

That is the turbo from the TME Evo 6. Slightly smaller compressor wheel than the turbo on the USDM Evo 8 (65mm vs. 68mm). On the TME it was a ti turbo, though. Also, this turbo has a 10.5 exhaust housing as compared to the 9.8 we find on the USDM Evo 8. BadBoyBeltran has this turbo on his Evo. Says it spools around 2500-3000rpm (about 500to 1000 rpm quicker than the US turbo). I don't think that the Mopar turbo is a reverse twin scroll however. People report up to 400hp on this turbo over on Lancer Register.
A lot of people over here in the UK are running the Ti turbo on their cars and are getting very good results. I’m pretty sure the turbo was fitted to the RS’s but I’m not positive. 400bhp is very attainable from these turbos and with a ball bearing conversion you will have a lag less blower and a stronger one as well. There are a few guys that are running serious boost from them. I think the highest that I have heard is around 2.3bar in the midrange! If you are looking for around 400whp then this is defiantly the way to go. Take a look at www.lancerregister.com to get some more info on them.
Thanks Chris.
Thanks Chris.
Thanks a lot for your responses guys. Some very good and insightful information there. I will definately wait for this turbo set-up to hit the shelves now.
So you're saying the only way to reach 400 whp on this turbo is to upgrade the turbo itself? I can't just buy this turbo set-up, add a bigger FMIC, exhaust, intake, and turn up the boost to reach 400 whp?
The only thing I do not like about this turbo is that it's mated with the turbo manifold again, just like the stock SRT-4 turbo set-up. You can still modify and upgrade it though right?
If there's anymore information on this turbo set-up please share. I'll go check that website out too.

There is a stickied thread that I started in the Evo Engine/Driveline called "Evo turbo information"
Check that out.
You should be able to do 400 on it.. but the unit would be near its flow limit.
