Problem during cam install
Problem during cam install
Just called the shop who was installing my cams.... They said that my timing belt had a slight tear in it... (my car has only 2K miles). Anyway, they replaced it with a DSM timing belt. They say that it is the exact same part number. They may be telling me the truth, but I want to make sure by checking with the forums. Should I be concerned.... They said it was $50.00 (sounds cheap for a timing belt).

Good,
Glad they caught that. BTW make sure you see the (bad) belt before your car goes out the door.
DSM provides a pretty good belt, but I'd spend the extra few pennies or so and get the super duper Kevlar one.
my 2 sense.

If you ask for your old belt as proof they can pull one out of stock, smear some dirt on it and put a cut in it with a knife.... then hand you "your" torn belt and look all indignant that you didn't trust them. Pretty common thing.

If it were me, as jcnel_evo8 suggests, I'd ask them to upgrade to the Kevlar belt.
