What compression ratio pistons are they?

Also, it is possible that oil entered the combustion chamber BEFORE the damage occurred. Oil has a very low octane, so it is best to not burn it in the combustion chamber.

98 ron. we get pretty good petrol here though still short of the 100 which the Japs have.

Where are your AFC settings at? If they are back to far away from "0" The MAS dosen't see any air going through it so it will advance the timing. thus causing a lean condition

98 RON isn't all that much better than what we get here. MON is what really matters.

You may also want to check your harness to injectors for damage, injector drivers within the ecu as well. You provided good data, what about knock? I am suprised you didnt feel it, let alone see it in data.

An advice for teh future, start injecting water in the engine to prevent detonation. I also run 1.7B with water injected after 20 psi, had no detonation problems.

PM me if you need the scheme for a simple made water injector kit.

How did the spark plug look in that cylinder? Was it totally burnt up? Maybe slight detonation make the tip of the plug chip off, therefore expanding the gap.

A/F in the 11:1 range running 24psi isn't anything crazy, even if it's on pump gas. Maybe check your coil to see if the ignition system is up to par. Maybe that one cylinder was firing whern it wasn't supposed to.

I agree with incognito, 11:1 and 24lbs does not sound all that crazy, actually not very crazy at all. That is well with in the "rich" side of safe. Maybe the timing was advanced enough to be on the treshold of knock, but high enough so that the cylinder pressure was just too high? Raising the cylinder pressure to the point where you are right under knock is good for a quick torque hump, but it is really hard on the internals. What piston make is that? I cannot tell, but I would assume that this is on the exhaust side of the piston? Those would be some high EGT's to melt it like that. How much damage did it do to the rest of the engine?

You should ask Buschur or someone to take a look at this thread. You have the information there and he has probably seen more then his fair share of blown motors especially 4G63.

check your coil packs, I have heard of atleast one other person loosing a piston due to a lean condition on an AEM EMS when it fried the coil pack.
