Tech help... car dies
The hks 264s/Walbro/Dynoflash were installed and the car runs great while it is cold. However once it warms up it wants to die.... The car is holding 20psi, so we don't think it is boost/vacuum leak... any ideas....
the balance shaft being out of time will not cause your low vaccum but the cam timing will. line up the marks on the cams pointing upwards facing the marks on the valve cover. next line your crank up this is easy and self explanatory. finaly your balance shaft (oil pump). you'll notice if you slowley rotate the oil pump it will reach a point where it will spin a small distance on its own, did this 3 times and it lands in the exact same spot. you must spin the oil pump till it lands on the timing mark on its own, not setting it there by hand. that is when the balance shaft is in time.
another trick is to mark the top of the belt from the marks on the front of the gears to the back where the marks are on the valve cover, to make sure you have it perfectly lined up
if the balance shaft is out of time youll notice a dull knocking vibration while reving the engine. youd be suprised i see alot of people not setting the belts right. also be sure NOT to overtighten the balance belt, leav it somewhat loose or they will sing.
when installing the belt make sure you have it completely tight on the side going straight from the cam to the crank and all your slack is on the tensioner side. i use clips to hold the belt on the cams it makes it much easier for me, anyway then i go around the crank, then the balance shaft then the tensioner. but its your preference just make sure you have no slack from the cams to the crank to the balance shaft and waterpump. turn the motor over a couple times after you install the tensioner, this will set the tension on the belt and your ready to go. make sure you always turn motors they way they were meant to be turned (in this case clockwise) this will detension the belt some if you spin it backwards, even if your doing other repairs to car, always turn motors the right way!
i hope this helps, i use to be a mitsu tech, now im a honda techs and the balance shafts on hondas also have reduction gears.

We can also hear the PVC valve rattle now........ very unsettling noise....
If the vacuum is reading 10.5 at idle, then the cam timing has to be off right??? We checked all the boost lines ect and they are zip tied ect... Al/Dynoflash , said that he doesn't mess with the idle. If that is the case, an ECU flash can't be the culprit right???? Does an ECU impact vacuum readings? I assume that the balance shaft isn't off since the car doesn't make the knocking sound you described.

Found the problem.... The cams were 1 tooth off intake and exhaust... We didn't see the marks on the valve covers... Once we aligned the cam gear marks up with the valve cover marks it idled almost like stock... no issues/no rattling.... Thanks!!! I don't even have a lope anymore )-:
