I don't think heat wrapping the IC piping will do much good; it doesn't get that hot. I was actually thinking the exact same thing as you for keeping the intake cool. Cut out a cardboard template and make it fit, then use that to cut some aluminum sheeting (or some such). Like I said, I doubt it would be that difficult. If you do something like that post it up; we'd all love to save the R&D time. Thanks!
It's on my list to do. I've got a Bar Exam in under 30 days so it'll have to wait a bit

Stupid question? What is the heat tolerance of Aluminum Foil? Could this be the "poor mans" solution for heat defelction for the upper IC pipe? Add some SS zip ties and "whalla." I see that the underside of the hood has a reflective "foil-like" material on it.

I'd work under the car with it up on a lift. DO I still have to remove the radiator then? Thx.

The "foil like" material on the underside of the hood is designed to help put out a engine fire. It is held to the hood with plastic tabs that will melt if your engine catches fire, dropping the material onto your engine block. I dont think it would put out a fire but might slow it down a little.

Spray some Pb Blater on and around the bolts on the manifold. Let that soak in for a while (30 min.). Then try and break them loose, I bet they give. I took my heatshield (top) off and had it sent to Jet Hot. They coated it for me for about $30. It was well worth it, and it looks great.

you can also try spraying the bolts with alil wb40... the rust on the heat shield coulda gotten to the bolts... it certainly helped me...

by the way... evo Ate... i looked up jethot and they only promise up to 1300F, is that enough?

Use PB Blaster for the bolts. Soak the bolts over night spraying them as much as possible. They will pop right off!
