David, do you have any thoughts about my specific question about mounting your FMIC higher to allow the stock tray to be used unmodified? The reality is that the smallest cuts and bends to the plastic pieces underneath are illegal for the SCCA autocross class in which the Evo is the most competitive (street prepared).

ARC is a direct swap....Greddy requires trimming of the bumper support.

Ultimate Racing's is another one

The Greddy fits with no modifications. If you're running national autox events in the midwest you can check out the intercooler on my car.

The Perrin is DOT legal. Check their website. This is HUGE for Autocrossers. It is the largest core for the Evo and the pressure loss is less than 1psi. I'll be purchasing that and the AMS piping when I have the money.

Hmm, I responded to this yesterday, not sure why it didn't post.

Our kit is direct fit too, just the small trimming to the undertray or you can heat it with a heat gun and just push it. I can't imagine the SCCA ever being able to find the undertray mod if you just heat it up with a heat gun and re-shape it, super easy to do.

Our FMIC kit is efficient for 750 hp, has .84 psi pressure drop and flows 1125 cfm. The kit also comes with the lower i/c pipe which is now in 304 ss.

Unfortunately, David, that trimming is enough to cause a problem in an SCCA event. The fact that it is required for performance reasons (to give better airflow to the radiator) makes it a lot more than a cosmetic issue.

I may have to sell mine for this reason and go with something that is a true direct fit. Since I got my Buschur FMIC and upper pipes used, I'm not sure what comes with your FMIC and what comes in the upper pipe kit. When you say the lower i/c pipe is included with the FMIC kit, which pipe is that? The black pipe that bolts to the turbo (the rest of my pipes are polished)? Or that j-pipe that slides onto the inlet side of the intercooler?

I wanted the Buschur also, but am unwilling to make any modifications to make it fit though... I'm now looking at the much more expensive Perrin FMIC as it is a true direct fit, and a very large core. I'm just looking for more info on it's performance specs.

Remember that the buschur unit eliminates 11 bends and a total of 36" over the factory intercooler plumbing, none of the other kits even think about doing this....

You dont have to cut anything...get a heat gun and bend the plastic down and form it,no need to cut.........Its a minor thing to do plus your car will have more airflow to the radiator ..... PERRIN is also nice but my money will go to buschur, his design is simply the best out of all the others.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... PRUVEN
its ther biggest core that will fit under the stock bumper without cutting. it even comes with a slim fan and power steering cooler relocator. Its almost as if it was OEM. Everything fits within just a few Milimeters from each other.
Do a search.

Go here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/showthread.php?t=74573 to see the pics of my Pruven FMIC setup both with the bumper on and off.
