Anyone using a k&n filer have their oil tested?

Hey
My fassshur in law drives a fast newer corvette, and he's the kind of guy who gets his oil tested every oil change, and he will not use a k&n filer because he said the test results showed dirt was getting past the filter. He said he would rather have 10 less horsepower than ruin his engine with a bunch of dirt in it. Anyone have their oil tested that runs any aftermarket filter?

I checked my oil once after getting my K&N filter and I wasn't getting anything in my oil... In fact from what I hear the more dirt/dust you get in your K&N filter the better it filters (at least to a certain point) because of the oil in the filter. But then again I only checked it for dirt once after I got it.

my friend oil was gritty.. but not becasue of the oil filter... becasue of his cheap-0 air filter.....

I didn`t check my oil but checked my air box after the filter and NO dust inside.
I guess that changing the oil every 3000 miles won`t hurt the engine even using K&N

The dirt in his oil isn't from the K&N filter. If there was dirt getting through the k&n the combustion camber would be dirty not the oil.

I am running a K&N drop-in air filter and had a used oil analysis done at 15k. The thread on that analysis is at https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=75067. I saw no indication that an undue amount of dirt was getting into the motor. Unfortunately, I don't have an analysis with the stock filter to give you as a baseline reference...

I have a K&N and did the first oil change at 5000 miles with a sample being sent to Blackstone labs for analysis. There was nothing abnormal about the analysis I got back from the lab to show any negative effects from the filter.

also when i reinstall the intake, i let the filter sit and dry over night before reinstalling just for extra precaution.

The new WORKS Drop-In fliter out flows AND filters better than the 'others'.
There is no rubber edging bleeding into what should be the open filtration area and the pure cotton layers don't show unusually big 'holes' when held up to the light. Look for it by the end of summer '04.
