Lost power! Bought 4 NGK BPR 7ES - Help!!!!!
Ummm heat range 7 is the stock heat range.
To go colder is to buy a range 8 plug. ie - HKS S40G
The coppers should be gapped from .024-.026
Iridiums come pregapped. Stick with the Iridiums as others said, coppers won't last long (ShapeGSX dont chime in please hehe

Any one have any information regarding the BR-7ES non projected plugs???

As an FYI for anyone interested... please don't assume that just because the number (of the plug) is higher that the heat range is colder. I know for a fact Bosch is the opposite. Always check with the manufacturer to be 100%.
So the plugs I bought are no cooler than stock? Is Lancershop.com wrong then?...
their website says
"These cooler plugs are for use with the Lancer EVO 8. The 7es is a good plug for the your EVO 8 to help prevent detonation under high boost. We suggest you change your plugs every 3-6 months to ensure a correct spark under high boost. Fits all Turbo Lancer EVO 8"
they are speaking of NGK BPR 7ES EVO 8 Turbo Spark Plugs"...
If I have to change these plugs all the time, what plugs would you guys recommend?

yep they (and a few other vendors) are wrong. Stockers on a DSM were range 6, a common upgrade for them was going to a range 7. If you check the part # NGK's on the EVO youll see theyre heat range 7, and if you check the Denso part # for stockers, youll see theyre also heat range 7.
Id suggest paying the $14 or whatever per plug for some colder Iridiums which you shouldnt have to change for 20k+ miles. (www.hksusa.com S40G for the EVO!)
Actually I have 4 sitting in my garage right now. Theyre used, but only for about 1000 miles. I'll dump em for $40. Send me a pm if you want 'em. If not, I'll keep for later use!

Your absolutly right like you didnt know that right
? I run Denso plugs and i was running IK24 which are steps colder but after the bigger turbo kit and raises the boost they didnt like it very much lets just say. So after melting them and doing a compression test to make sure everything was cool i ended up going with the IK27 which are 3 steps colder. But you are right if you are not running the higher boost higher boost go colder but if you run lower boost for your pump gas then the colder plugs might not work for you since they will not heat up enough to burn the deposits. Just my 0.02

V8Killer,
Sure, although 1QWKEVO, one post below (that one^) summed it up.
With heat ranges more (in this case colder) isn't necessarily better. The car must perform the mundane as well... start, idle, cruise (you get the point). The plugs inability to burn off the contaminants due to it's colder operating range allow them to store (imbed on/into) on the plug. This will most likely bring him back to where he is now. This in addtion to the fact that they are copper (a more sensitive/tempermental alloy) it isn't a wise investment as they'll need changing often (go cheap while experimenting I suppose).
Aside from the fact that the plugs currently in the car (stock heat range) are probably not a good metering device (due to all the octane boost used). They "would've been" an excellent source to determine if a colder heat range was/is "necessary".

I use the BPR8s with a gap of .25(which they all were pretty close out of the box) with no problems at all. For now, Im sticking to the cheap plugs as Mitsu wants 24 a piece for theirs which are Denso anyways I do believe. I would roll with the 8s. If an explanation is needed, let me know. thanks and Happy Tuning!!
