anyone still interested in the carbon fiber driveshaft?

If someone wants to let ACPT borrow their stock driveshaft, ACPT will make a carbon one. This would be around $900-$1000. Like someone mentioned before, though, someone should accurately measure the weight of the stock one first.

I know it's been a few months, but whatever happen to this. I believe driveshaft has finally released their Al driveshaft. Has anyone tried it, or had a CF made?

just a question.. considering you will never see this thing anyway.. why not make it out of titanium.. its stronger and very light.

one reason carbon fibre would be better than any metel is that it wouldn't break parts if it snapped under high stress

Titanium really isn't a very stiff metal, so you'd get a lot of twist. You can always try and compensate by making the tubing thicker or larger in diameter, but then you'd lose the material's weight advantage.

And if you thought carbonfiber was expensive....................titanium alloy would be outlandish.

i've never heard of issues with evo driveshafts...
many evo's in the 9's and 10's are on the stock driveshafts and they work just fine

I just saw this thread and found it ironic. Over the weekend I met my girlfriend's cousin from Huntington Beach who works @ ACPT and asked about the driveshaft. He said they don't have any intentions on making it for the Evo due to it being broken down into three sections. They make one for the STI (which he owns) and adds a good amount of free power (less rotational mass) 29lbs. vs 12lbs. Trust me I was trying to get him to prototype one, but he said they aren't going to make it.
