Greddy V-SPL Intercooler

Installed the Greddy V-SPL Intercooler on my car this weekend. Install was not bad, MYEVOVIII helped me......well, he did most of the work. He made some lower brackets for the intercooler. And after a few hours of test fitting, we got it level.
The intercooler fits well, and we were able to maintain the sprayers, screen, and crash beem. It also worked with the stock pipes.
Here are some pictures.
I would like to thank mdzuricky77 for selling the intercooler to me for a great price, MYEVOVIII for wasting his Saturday to help me with my car, and Madd VIII for loning me a BOV when I broke mine.

Why did you need to make Lower brackets? Mine (which I'm selling soon due to T-case troubles) was a direct fit without any fabrication.

In the picture of the two intercoolers, the lower brackets are not in the same location. I am told this intercooler is for the Evo 7.

It is for the EVO7 but that kit comes with lower brackets to mount the intercooler on the EVO8

Don't say that too loud or MYEVOVIII will get mad at me. I bought the intercooler used so I do not get brackets. If we would have had those it would have saved a few trips to Home Depot.

Did you have to cut anything or mount the sprayers in a differnt location for them to work?

do you feeling any differences before and after the intercooler installation? I saw a couple used one for sale in the classified for 500 bucks used and thinking about getting one. The weather in ny is not that warm so I dont know how efficent it is to get an upgrade intercooler, hard decission....

The car does feel faster. I do not know what my 1/4 mile times are, not really into that. Overall, my car is reponding to the hot weather of the south better. I find the car a lot easier to drive and more responsive. I bought mine used and got a great deal, so it is worth the money I paid for it. For my mods, it works well. But, I only have a turbo back, boost controller, and dynoflash. The guy I got it from has far more, and his car out grew it.

Not for nothin, but just changing the lower IC pipe would yeild more WHP then a FMIC with a stock turbo. It flows perfect for the stock IC.

Did teh stock piping hook up alright? It looks a LOT larger, does it match???

The Greddy lower intercooler pipeing matched up well, but I did not use it. The intercooler matched up to the stock pipe with a little tweaking, so I decided to keep the stock pipes and sell the Greddy pipe. I still have it for sale.

Um, no... Urban legend... the southern states have summer 9 months out of the year. In August, you'll find your FMIC heat soaked before you start the car...

Sorry Zues, I picked up 15 WHP with the Lower pipe, My FMIC is doing fine and does nto heat soak, I also do not track my car but never experience loss of power. Maybe hard track driving, but the Lower IC pipe is a HUGE restriction, the stock FMIC flows perfect for the turbo, I have seen people go 11.7 @ 118 with the stock FMIC and Turbo, not much better then that.

umiami,

Did you dyno before and after replacing the lower ic pipe?. That seems like a HUGE gain just from changing the lower pipe alone.
