Tuning path questions.
Tuning path questions.
I'm at a point where I feel I need to be tuned.
I've been looking at a bunch of tuning solutions.
DynoFlash (ECU flashing), UTEC/XEDE (piggyback user-programmable computers, and I have a laptop too), or a good old S-AFC II.
What do you guys recommend?
Keep in mind I live in Buffalo and plan on doing a few more mods to my car (cams, solid intercooler pipes, maybe a bigger intercooler etc).
The nearest tuning company to my knowledge is Buschur Racing in Ohio which is still 4 hours away.
With the UTEC/XEDE I can download pre-programmed flashes & upload them to my ECU (correct me if I'm wrong). Same with the S-AFC II to a certain extent. And obviously the DynoFlash I'd have to keep on sending my ECU in.
What is the best/better solution here?
List of mods on my car currently are:
- AEM Short Ram Intake
- Manual Boost Controller @ 20psi
- Ultimate Racing's 3" Downpipe
- Ultimate Racing's 3" Test pipe
- Greddy 3" Titanium Catback Exhaust
Those are the only power making mods I have. I've got gauges & turbo timer etc also.
Oh btw, what should my car be putting out/running in the 1/4 with those mods?

i first got a utec, but then switched to an xede for a couple of reasons.
1 - the downloadable maps from vishnu follow pretty much the most common mods. the utec did not.
2 - shiv does custom tunes all over the country, so getting to him is not that difficult if you dont mind a little wait. in the meantime you have a dyno proven base map to run!
3 - if i ever get better at tuning my own ride (which i am working on), i can still do it with the xede.
if you can properly tune your car with no help, the utec is awesome. if not, the xede is the way to go IMO. i like these two options if you are going to continue to upgrade the vehicle.

ps - barely used utec with map switch for sale.
