i find it easier to drive when the clutch engages fairly
early(low) and with a rather short duration as i lift the clutch pedal.

the newbie question i have then is how hard/easy
is it to tune the engagement point and duration of a clutch?
can it be done by adjusting the clutch cable or is it a more
complicated process?

very easy. adjustment rod and locking nut is under the pedal near the firewall.
