Install of Defi B Oil Pressure

the whole install seems pretty easy except for the wiring. I am used to just a power source wire and a ground. this gauge has 4 wires, a ground, illimination, ignition, and 12V battery. My current defi b boost gauges is runnin to my fuse box. what are the other wires for? Thanks

Same thing. Ground is just that. Ignition is any source that turns on when the key is in the ACC position. 12V battery is a constant 12 volt lead. I got my illumination lead from the radio (since it has one and I know it's there). The harness (Scoche, I beleive) that I have for my aftermarket radio labels the illum wire by that name and is orange in color. You can probably do with out this wire if you can't find a source for it.

so for my illumination source i have for my boost gauge is a 12v source into the fuse box. can i just run all these wires into the fuse box and the ground to all the same ground that i everything else hooked up to.

In this case the illumination and 12v wires serve a different purpose. I'm not sure you could tap the same wire for both duties as the illumination serves as a means of controlling the brightness of the gauge. I would suggest you just leave the illum wire alone for now, unless you can find a good source for it. Like I said earlier the ignition wire needs to be connected to anything that gets powered up when the key is in the ACC position, I used the cigarette lighter for my source. If the source you are tapping in the fuse box is always hot regardless of the key position that will serve as your constant 12v. And if the ground you are using is good, you should be fine using it again.

I hope this is somewhat helpful, if not check this link it describes how to install a Defi Control Unit, which coincidentally, uses the same fours wires (constant +12V, switched +12V, illumination, and ground). You'll want to read steps one through seven (maybe eight).

thanks for the help....i actually just twisted all three, 12V, ignition, and illimination together and stuck it in a 12V fuse box source....it worked great so far....

since i now have this gauge, what are typical readings of the gauge, from idel all the way up to WOT...what should i be looking for....thanks again for the help
