Although Zeus you said you had your coated...wouldn't that help make it stronger?

Due to the polishing compound "cooking out", the coating pealed after a week or so... I was told after the fact that if I had the manifold heat cycled, that it should not have happened. I was offered a re-coat at the coater's expense. I've not taken the time to pull it off and take him up on it.

i can vouch for the full race manifold. i have their honda top mount in my possession and it is super quality and guaranteed not to crack. compared to manifolds without merge collectors we've seen gains of 20-30 whp in the mid & top end. not sure how that translates to evo stuff though.

I had the full race manifold on my old turbo honda as well, and it's worth every dime.

john.. heat cycling is just what the name implies, you bring the unit to extrme operating temperatures hold it for a while then let it cool. This cycle is repeated until contaminates are burned or evaporated from the metal. It also tends to help relieve stresses that have been introduced by the welding process during fabrication. It can be done on the engine or artifically.
hey Zeus.. temp cycling.. now there is a job I haven't done since my areo space days with the HP 5060 Cesium Freq. Standard.

To those with DNP manifold and aftermarket kits, such as the ATP that bolt up to stock flange, will the DNP be strong enough to support a bigger turbo and also not crack?

My DNP manifold cracked in the centre, not bad, but has cracked...only 5-6 months old. So I agree with those that say "all tubular manifolds crack" & life goes on.

The DNP uses thin wall 304SS so I would expect those to crack.

It would be interesting to know... were you running the OE O2 housing, or an after market one with that manifold?

The stock o2 housing has a tab that mounts to the engine block. This actually supports the weight of the turbo. All the aftermarket o2 housings I've seen omit this support bracket. Without the support, all the weight of the turbo, o2 housing, and downpipe hangs off the manifold and subjects it to a lot more stress. This may have accelerated your manifold cracking.

But, DNP also makes an o2 housing that doesn't use that support either.
