did anyone have a problem with hks bov vta?

aside from the start up idle being a little choppy...

what adjustments did you make to the bov (tighten/loosen)?

i dont want to screw anything up with back pressure (blow off any flex, throw pressure in the engine ect)

just wondering. i got one today and that C clamp already makes me hate it.

just to help start this thread going ... is there a reason you want a vta valve? It really will make the EVO run really rich at certain points, and even may stall the motor from time to time.

A good quality recirc. valve will already have quite a *pufft* sound, and allow the already compressed air to zip back around *slightly* helping spool on the turbo again.

jcnel.

im gonna get a recirc flange for it, so im just VTA for the time being. i have a 1 gen bov on my eclipse that recircs and im happy with the noise it makes.

i got the kit with the upper intercooler pipe also just for looks (and hatered for mitsu flex pipe)

i was most wondering if i had to adjust the bov settings ect.

Thumbs up

I have the HKS BOV. It's cool and makes a really loud noise! I bought the "kit" for the Evo which recirculates. I don't have any problems with it except that sometimes the RPM's dip way down like its going to stall, but it doesn't. I have no complaints.

thanks miss evo.
i expected the rpm problem (although that can be fixed by taking out some the of "honeycombs" in the mass air sensor. or at least that was the case in 2nd gen eclipses)
but a little dip isnt so bad.

why is everyone so afraid of running rich? isnt more fuel kinda of a good thing?

Some thread on here said that the adjustment really does not do anything , and that was some 1 from hks , Ive adjusted the bolt on my ssbov and i have yet to see it makes a diff.

I run the HKS SSQV VTA and have had virtually no problems (only an occasional dip in idle). You do NOT want to adjust the screw on the back of the unit. If you already have, you can PM me and I'll walk you through setting it back to the position HKS reccomends (e.g. the one that works extremely well). Hope this helps.

This link may help you as well (has the HKS corporate response):

heres my experience, merely 6 hours after instal.

i was on the way to my GFs, just gotten off the freeway, total normal driving, not even hitting boost past 10-12 psi, pull up to a light, car stalls, wouldnt restart.
luckily i rolled into a church parking lot (where i looked under the hood for any loose pipes and said, please god please god please god a few times) let it sit a few minutes and then turned the ignition while pumping the gas until it came back to life.
drove the remainder of the way to the gfs (2 blocks) and continued to put the car back to stock using a pocket flashlight in my mouth (mind you it was like 12:30am) as guidance.

any ideas?

I had the problems with the HKS SSQ and contacted HKS directly. Click here to read their response.

If you are still not happy, look into purchasing the EIDS from HKS. It's next on my list to stop the dip in engine RPM's due to to much fuel.
