What grade motor oil should i use for hot climate?

I live in the Caribbean and its constantly hot. What grade motor oil should i use on my Evo 5? 10w-40, 15w-40, 20w-50? Is Citgo synthetic oils any good? I usually use Mobil 1. I have the choice of Mobil 1, Castrol, and Citgo, thats it. Please help!!!!

You should use Mobil 1 10W30 no matter what. Never change under any circumstance.

Why? Even in the hot weather? Could you give some details on why to use this?

1. It's the factory recommendation right on the oil cap.
2. Mitsu doesn't F around when it comes to warranty.
3. Read the bottle of Mobil 1 10W30 and you will find that it is suitable for whatever temperature you can live in unless you live in Antartica or Hell.
4. Something thicker runs too much risk of coaking up the turbo.
5. Something thinner may burn up from the heat of the turbo.
6. Because EVOm says so.

Thanks dude! I don't understand why i was advised to use 15w-50. This rally racer in Trinidad told me so. And out climate is pretty much the same...90 to 100 degress everyday.

It's 90-100 in TX all the time (except for winter) and our summer is basically from April to September and winter is Dec. - Feb. The other months are just warm (and sometimes hot). So mostly it's the same. You'll be fine.

Thanks!!! Can you help me with a gas filter? I can't find the stock ones for my Evo 5 but was told I can use the same one as the Montero 3000 V6s. Do you know anything about this?

According to the Owner's Manual you should use 20W-40. The closest thing would probably be 20W-50.

according to the manual you can use higher grades of engine oils, it all depend on where you live!!
i would recommend a 5w-50 its easier at startup and for the 50 for hotter climates works great!
read http://www.synlube.com/viscosit.htm
this will help you

I think my porsche had 0w 50. I would use 10 - 30 cuz its hot so the oil won't be thick to begin with. in colder weather the first number should be smaller so it gets to the engine internals faster. 2nd number is the viscosity when the oil is warm. thicker oil is not good on engines with low tolerances.
