There should be a restrictor in the hose from the compressor to the T and a restrictor in the line from the T to the boost control solenoid. I verified this because I have the lines right in front of me, as I pulled them off still connected to the T so it would be easier to put it back on if I decided to take my boost controller off. Hope this helps.

Ok. Chances are they are not there. As I will be installing a MBC (and later an Exede) Do I need these restrictors? if so, can I get new hoses w/restrictors from the dealer?

oh yeah, btw...while digging around in my engine bay tonight, I just realized that I have a braided SS clutch line. Goody! Makes me wonder if the clutch restrictor has also been removed...

I wonder if Carmax will tell me who owned this car so I can ask him/her what the heck they did to this thing!?

If you get an Xede, I beleive that you will need the restrictor that is between the compressor and the T, but not the one between the T and the solenoid. You will not need either with the MBC.

Where exactly in Hillbilly Hell are you located at? I'm probably near you in West KY. We could get together in the next couple of days and try to piece yoru car together, per se, if you want. However, I am only in town for a few days. Let me know.

missing the pills wouldnt cause it to have "bleed" type symptoms of low boost.
if the problem were just the pills hed be spiking.
not saying the pills arent gone. but i just went through this same issue for the last two weeks. id rather have low boost than the fear of blowing an engine

i think the best bet is to take out the lines from the compressor/wastegate to the solenoid. plug up the solenoid side, and install the mbc off the compressor/wastegate.

I'm not 100% certain on this, but my understanding is that if you remove the restrictor between the T and the compressor it will cause boost to drop to around 12-13 psi. There were some threads a while back that mentioned this, just not sure how accurate it is.

If you want, you can order a new set of lines with the pills installed for $14 + shipping from Mitsubishiparts.net. The part number is MN143555. You may want to get the new lines anyways if you are going to run an Xede down the road. I'd be curious to see if this works before installing a MBC.

**Resolution**

I just finished fitting the Perrin MBC. Problem solved.

What had happened was the vac line from the compressor to the "T" was a regular vac line with no restrictor. The vac line from the Boost Solenoid to the "T" had the restrictor in place.

Now the boost shoots all the way to 18 or so in 1st gear and 19.5 in 2nd-5th but it still drops down to 16 or so after 6000 rpms...I thought the MBC fixed this...I guess I have more reading/researching to do.

BTW, the car is a whole new beast at 19.5psi... I still have a few things to get sorted (sparkplugs, etc) but she's running nice now.

You need to eliminate the restrictor from your MBC. That will give you total control of your boost.

Yeah, with a MBC in place, you need to remove BOTH restrictor pills.

so for it not to taper down, you would need to remove both restrictor pills

Man you gotta stay on one topic to get help with your car.... This is the 4th place you are posting with questions. The post above is totally wrong. The restrictors have nothing to do with the MBC. The MBC hoses bypass completely the stock boost control hoses. Do no screw around with the restrictor pills. They should not be part of your MBC installation.

Is the wireing to the boost stock boost solenoid plugged in? If unplugged it stays closed and without it bleeding off any boost you are running the wastegate spring pressure.

I would be checking the vac lines coming off the boost silinoid to the turbo.
