PeakBoost BBTO4Rp pumpgas results

http://store1.yimg.com/I/cheapturbo_1868_3073758

We've decided to begin our testing with the largest turbo option for the PeakBoost kit. This turbo is one of our new BBTO4R T3p turbochargers. Which uses the large 67mm TO4R compressor flowing 75lbs/min, mated to a T4 p-trim turbine wheel, shoved into a T3 .63 a/r turbine housing, all on a Garrett dual ss ballbearing.
Supportable of upto 725awhp!
We've developed this turbo as somewhat of a happy medium between the GT35R and GT40R, while still using a T3 footprint. We're currently seeing full boost at 5200rpms, with a shift recovery of 12psi from 22psi, due to the Garrett BB chra.

This will be the first in a line of many turbos we will be testing for the PeakBoost EVO kit. Next week we'll be testing this same turbo with the smaller T3 stg3 turbine wheel, which we're expecting to see ~1000rpms quicker spool while still being supportable of ~625whp. After that, the GT35R, and the GT3040R.
We have a few customers that will be posting their GT3076R results very soon aswell.

Test vehicle:
-PeakBoost 05 EVO8 gsr

Modifications:
-PeakBoost turbo system
-PeakBoost FMIC
-PeakBoost prototype 3" exhuast
-HYDRA plug and play EMS
-1000cc injectors
-Walboro 255 LPH

Fuel:
-91 octane
No meth/alky/h2o

the baseline run @ 22psi was 355awhp, after ~10runs we were able to use the HYDRA EMS to tune it upto 400awhp on the same boost pressure.

here's the factory turbo vs.

and some installed pics:

At this power level, in 1st and 2nd gear, once full boost is achieved it blows the factory clutch off....
The Tilton twin disk should be shipping out to us late this week and then its time for racegas! {thumbup}

let me know if you guys have any questions

good numbers.. i actually have made my own kit just like yours with the standard bearing t67/stg3/.63 ar i get full boost around 5100 to 5200 so i can see a ball bearing getting 5k or so. i like that manifold what kind of warranty do you have for it? do you find that the air filter you have flows good enough because i have the same filter on my setup..
bump for a really nice setup looks good fellas..

Zach, peakboost offers a lifetime warranty on their manifold {thumbup}

Nice numbers for 91 pump gas and 22PSI!

bigyellowevo Nov 16, 2005 07:22 AM

Ken, Maybe I missed it, but does this car have cams or are they stock?

thanks scotty my boy you should buy there kit it looks really nice!!!

How come your stock turbo graph is only making 250 dynojet whp @ 24psi? Was it stock minus the boost raise?

Great numbers and a sweet looking kit. Looking foward to more info on the GT3076.

Holly Lag batman... geeze is the a 42r turbo?

PeakBoost Nov 16, 2005 11:00 AM

as stated above, all PeakBoost manifolds come with a LifeTime warranty
:beer:

Boltz: we honestly didnt bother to tune it up on the factory turbo. i posted the graph as more of a comparison of powerbands. however, no matter the tune, the stock turbo will have massive top end tq loss... hth

bigyellowevo: stock cams {thumbup}
we're going to push the stock cams to what we feel is the limit and then throw in the 280's we have sitting here.

ultimate cc: we have a couple customers that will be finishing up their PeakBoost GT3076R tunes very soon. I'll make sure to post the results if they don't. :)

40psievo9: as far as "lag" is concerned, this is one of the largest turbos we will be offering with the PeakBoost kit. the reason for the topend happy powerband is the very large P-trim turbine wheel. this large wheel allows the full potential of the compressor to be seen(~750whp supportable).
next week we will be testing the same turbo with the smaller STG3 turbine wheel, to show the difference in powerband.
with the STG3 wheel, we are expecting to see full boost(22psi) at ~4200rpms.
with the P-trim wheel, we are seeing full boost (22psi) at 5200rpms.
the p-trim wheel would be much more useful when running larger cams that will allow for more topend flow, something along the lines of a 5000-8000rpms powerband..
where-as the STG3 wheel would be more suitable for a high HP stock cam setup.

once we test the TO4R stg3, we will move on to the GT35R, and GT3040R.... this will allow you guys to determine which powerband is best suited to your driving style. all test will be done with the turbo as the only variable.

IMO to a certain extent cams are not as much of a necessity as most EVO owners might be led to think.

in fact, we are working on putting together a 400awhp pump gas package with a Hydra basemap, that doesn't need or include cams {pcfreak}

This thing is gonna be pretty nice with a set of 272 or 280s. Good power for stock cams.
