yep, but you won't get that response from most people on evom because everyone here is in bed with buschur/ams and they won't admit the product good for obvious reasons

I just put down 534 awhp on a stock block evo with a slowboy 35r kit. My tuner was "impressed" that the intercooler worked. I am glad I only spent $175 shipped for mine. I got the xs power 24x12x3 and built my own piping for it.

Fmic

I am one person that had an ebay intercooler.
I purchased 2 years ago the intercooler from XSpower www.SSautochome.com.
I was really wanting an intercooler but did not have much money. It measures in at the same size as the AMS intercooler.
I put down 438HP at 25 pounds with a 25G turbo kit and some simple mods.
I never had any issues what so ever with this intercooler. I recently sold it to a friend and he is running it now. Probably one of the best $150 purchases I have made.
I have since upgraded to the Perrin, I must be honest, I have not noticed much of a change at all on my butt dyno.

A local (thekuai) uses the ebay fmic and made roughly the same numbers as most of the other cam + alch + bolt on evos make ~390 whp.

Has anyone tested an ebay intercooler versus the stock one?

Rcebowl Oct 3, 2006 02:23 PM

umm i remember reading a guys review on this intercooler, and his intercooler had a pressure lose of OVER 2 boost!!! that's RIDICULOUS!

soo i really dont know how "good" it really could be

That's why you turn up the mbc

Wicked MR Oct 3, 2006 02:56 PM

i ran the xs power 24*12*4 with 3 inch IC piping on my old RB26 s14, put over 500whp through it at around 18 lbs and it worked great especially for the price. Now is it a really good core, No, but for under 200 u really cant do wrong. Its not like those turbos they were selling that had the housings glued together.

LOL! right that "fixes" the lost boost...

but there's a difference between your turbo pushing out 24 psi and you only getting 21 psi in your intakemanifold

you'd run your tubro harder and hotter in which you would lose efficiency. yes you "might" not lose that much efficiency.. but you have to think... if you end up using lets say alky ... your turbo would have to push out 29 psi just to get the 26psi that u would normally want... which would put you WAY over the efficiency of your turbo and you would end up jsut blowing out hot air...

but then again this is just IMHO
