oil catch can?

i have seen these on tons of evos but what exactly do they do? is it just a shiney thing to put under your hood for a little show or does it have any performance oriented benifits? thanks and sorry for the noob question.

Short answer:

Oil/blow-by escapes the valve cover through the PCV valve and breather connection.

Oil in manifold = lower octane rating
Oil in intake = oily intercooler= reduced cooling efficiency

A catch can is like a trap for these oily solids/blow-by

the saikou one isnt blingy enough for me haha. seems like it works well though. are there any really shiney ones like the cusco one that work as well as the saiuko one? any other recomendations on a shiney one that works well?

Ummm, so you would rather get a bling part as opposed to one you know works?
