all about CAM GEARS

well since there is alot of different brands of cam gears out there i think this thread will help in directing people who want cam gears to pick the right set.

post a pic of the cam gear and its info and what your thoughts are.

If there adjustable and not made out of cardboard there all pretty much the same is what I have concluded.

Warrtalon Jan 21, 2007 03:32 PM

Yeah, not much difference in cam gears. Not a lot of use from them either, but they can help in some cases.

evilevo2006 Jan 21, 2007 11:10 PM

well i know they make 3 bolt and 5 bolt cam gears. i would think you would want 5 bolt gears to begin with right??

now im just wondering what brands we have to pick from. and i thought maby posting some pic's for the people who like the bling factor of them. ok like me. lol.

i dont like the aem gears.

I am running the HKS with no problems. I know a couple people who have been running them for over a year. They are light as could be compaired to the AEM tru-time gears. A friend has them on his DSM and they are rather heavy.

tune valve timing relative to the crank. No power added just a tuning tool.

So far i've found them more as a BLING effect more than anything. Anygood tuner can get similar results without them, doesnt Dave B not run them in most cases?

hondafan Jan 22, 2007 09:32 AM

i've never ran them on any of my cars. for the money and risk involved, the HP you can pick up just isn't worth it. what, you get 1-5 at the wheels if you're lucky and risk those bolts slipping and ruining your valves and pistons(it's happened to a friend of mine).
