all about CAM GEARS

well since there is alot of different brands of cam gears out there i think this thread will help in directing people who want cam gears to pick the right set.

post a pic of the cam gear and its info and what your thoughts are.

If there adjustable and not made out of cardboard there all pretty much the same is what I have concluded.

Yeah, not much difference in cam gears. Not a lot of use from them either, but they can help in some cases.

well i know they make 3 bolt and 5 bolt cam gears. i would think you would want 5 bolt gears to begin with right??

now im just wondering what brands we have to pick from. and i thought maby posting some pic's for the people who like the bling factor of them. ok like me. lol.

i dont like the aem gears.
i like the hks gear's but there a 3 bolt.

I am running the HKS with no problems. I know a couple people who have been running them for over a year. They are light as could be compaired to the AEM tru-time gears. A friend has them on his DSM and they are rather heavy.

ok i did my best to colect all the cam gear pic's for you guys. ever gear i posted is evo 8 specific . there are the pic's guys. enjoy. i think i got 99% of them. well the good one's anyway

tune valve timing relative to the crank. No power added just a tuning tool.

So far i've found them more as a BLING effect more than anything. Anygood tuner can get similar results without them, doesnt Dave B not run them in most cases?

i've never ran them on any of my cars. for the money and risk involved, the HP you can pick up just isn't worth it. what, you get 1-5 at the wheels if you're lucky and risk those bolts slipping and ruining your valves and pistons(it's happened to a friend of mine).
